BEAUTY THE BEAST Feelings sublime By beauty induced, Deceive. The world chasing Happiness and joy, Causes of sorrow pursues. An odd quirk Something so appealing Charged with sweet emotion In reality reduces peace. The high pitched melody of love Is called by the wise ones, Defilement, A sugar coated poison. Beginning and end Time spent Long hours Fleeting moments become Life is but a dream sweet heart Now, always Scenery changes Ever changing, rearranging Holding on to beautiful things Change wrenches, pain starts, Life is but a dream sweet heart Traveler mind Leaves behind Beauty and beast Ugly and divine Breathing deep Awake and fine Life is but a dream sweet heart. Awake in the dream
Peace and glow
Shining heart
To the sufferers show
With expedient boom
The way out of gloom. |

THE WAY OUT EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURE No matter what Happens around me No matter what Situations materialize No matter what People say or do I will practice so that I remain in peace, contentment and bliss Liberated completely Free from fear, insecurity, anger, greed, craving, Attachment, pettiness And possessiveness With only preferences And no addictions Forever breathing From the stomach With enlightened Energy and purity I will strive to help all beings The pleasure And intoxication of love Is transitory What seems Like something profound Is an illusion Like shantideva said, Pleasure is like honey On the edge of a sword In this matter of happiness Pleasure, contentment and bliss Things are exactly the opposite Of what they seem to be. Wanting to hold on to the source of our pleasure That very wanting Destroys our contentment, Our peace. Not at peace, Our mind becomes confused. A confused mind is weak And pain, suffering And vexations inevitably follow. Letting the source Of our pleasure go Setting it free, Not trying to possess it, Is the only way, Because pleasure is transitory Know this as the truth Like we can eat Without being addicted to food Similarly love Without being attached to love That attachment Will cause suffering and pain It will obstruct enlightenment And will halt All bodhisattva activity. To help yourself And all sentient beings Free themselves from suffering, There is nothing more precious than to be content To be free of craving, Free of anger It is thus that the ancients said, The superior man Keeps his anger under control And has few desires As thoughts flit through the mind Profound thoughts, Thoughts of love, family, hate Strength, weakness, whatever Know them to be illusions That make up “I” Who thinks that it is separate And strives and calculates To protect itself from others And is jealous, insecure, Greedy and fearful. Lose the I To do this moment by moment Disregard any thought that arises Treat it like pure junk Not an insight, Or a special intuition or vision Just let it go And dwell always in contentment In clarity, in your Here and now reality Unattach, unattach, let go, let go You don't need anything You come alone and naked you go Your likes, dislikes, Attractions, aversions, Wants, needs, desires, Fears, addictions Will bring you suffering And will be the chains That bind you to samsara And block enlightenment |
